Nippon Maru (present)

Nippon Maru (にっぽん丸) is owned by the Shousen Mitsui Kyakusan a.k.a 商船三井客船 a.k.a mitsui OSK passanger ltd a.k.a MOPAS.  Nippon maru is also the sister ship of Fuji Maru, which is gonna be used for next year SSEAYP program, due to the large renovetions it has to went through in the end of this year.

The first generation of nippon maru is constructed in 1958 (which was a remodel of Argentina Maru - あるぜんちな丸). The ship is retired in year 1977 after the construction of 2nd generation of nippon maru.

The second generation was in the 1962, which is installed in Yugoslavia. It is actually bought by the Mitsui OSK , Brazilian Ferry called 「Rosa da Fonseca」. At 1990 the ship is retired after the 3rd generation of Nippon Maru is put in use. After it is retired apparently it is sold to Indonesia *gasps*, where it is being re-make/re-use/whatever as 'Atirah'. And in 1998 its scrap is dismanteled in India.

The third one is the nippon maru that is used as in nowadays.
The 3rd generation Nippon Maru is completed in September 27th, 1990. It is constructed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industry in Kobe as a new Ship to replace the 2nd generation nippon maru.

I'm not responsible for the accuracy of this article, but if you found any mistakes please correct me and give me inputs :D

I seriously can not believe i'm writing this much about nippon maru ROFL But it has been interesting :3
Right now Nippon Maru is still going around the globe for Ship for World Youth a.k.a SWY a.k.a 世界青年の船 program, which started on january 21st, 2009. And then i believe it has another cruise tour before it finally have to enters its 'rehab' program XD.

Cant wait for the ship to be better in 2010, and who knows, if they still use the same ship (nippon maru) then i'll be able to have my reunion on board too :D (it just wont be the same if its not the same ship).
