Back in december last year i was fortunate enough to receive a gift voucher from Grand Indonesia BirdDayBash, which was a celebration for their twitter anniversary. Grand Indonesia is one of the biggest mall in Jakarta (and Indonesia) located near the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout (a famous landmark in indonesia), I used to go here all the time for movie marathon or shopping at level 1, before i went to school in Bandung. It is the hippest hang out spots in town and you can find a huge variety from great food, movies, bookstores, boutiques (both local and international brands), gadgets, etc. They definitely prove that they deserve the title of Grand Indonesia Shopping Town.
Anyway, i recieved a voucher for Benihana restaurant, worth IDR 250k ($25). Benihana (
紅花) is a fusion japanese restaurant, specialized in Teppanyaki dishes. The founder was a Japanese named Hiroaki 'Rocky' Aoki (ロッキー青木) who was a wrestler back in the 60s. He started his restaurant business in New York and the name Benihana came from the red safflower which was also the name of his parents coffee shop in Tokyo. The concept of the restaurant is for meals prepared theatrically by knife-wielding, joke telling chefs on the teppanyaki table, surrounded by wooden eating area for the costumer.
Curiosity and not wanting to waste the voucher, me and my sister went there for lunch (almost 3 weeks ago) and a practicing our photography (so be prepared for food porns!)
( are you ready for the food porn? )All in all, the food was delightful, the service was exemplary, and made even more special by the entertaining chefs! Benihana gave us a whole lot different experience of dining. Me and my sister would love to come back (of course), but that's the glitch, Benihana is quite expensive (it costs about IDR 350k-500k for two). Of course if you have money to splurge do not hesitate to go here and experience tasty delights with extra added laughs, Benihana!
(and yay me for finally posting this review! xD)
